Cayley Embankment
in Rhos On Sea

On a beautifully sunny autumn morning I sat by the sea on Cayley Embankment...just because . It was tranquil so I really could recharge my batteries. I communed with nature by watching some birds and petting various inquisitive dogs . It is a good place to walk a dogs..or three I should imagine, as there is a wide belt of grass before the embankment drops to the prom. I think the work is almost finished as there is just some sand left to spread on the beach. It will look almost continental when it is complete .

Lovely grassed & tree lined embankment, unchanged for over a century, elevated up from the West Promenade, with free car parking and benches to sit and take in the panoramic views from nearby Rhos Harbour and across the whole of Colwyn Bay towards Rhyl in the distance. Popular with dog walkers, people enjoying a quick bite to eat and a place to relax and watch the world passing by along the promenade below. The night time views are just as impressive, watching the moon rising over the sea and the lights of the distant wind farms and coastline. The annual 'Tree of Lights' in December is now an iconic sight and looks amazing too.

There is something elegant about the Cayley Embankment. At the top of the rise are some of the most attractive and interesting homes of Colwyn Bay, including the Art Deco one built for Mr Colwyn himself. Spacious gardens and beautiful plantings provide a lovely backdrop to the grassy knoll, with its own attractive tree and planted areas along with numerous seating benches to sit, admire, and enjoy the fabulous Bay itself.
