Fantastic tranquil beach overlooking Colwyn Bay and brilliant scenery of its spectacular harbour and it was high tide today and had a lovley walk along the beach having a paddle and walking along the coast path love the views of the Irish sea and you can see the amazing Llandudno Orme headlands in the distance
Beautiful beach, clean and plenty of beach combing to do with the kids. We loved the chapel on the side of the beach, kids thought that was amazing, so well looked after. There was some work being done when we popped by, adding seating areas and pedestrian areas which looked very modern and refreshing. We spent all day here and the kids loved beach time, shell sourcing, digging holes and time in the sea. Was a lovely beach and very clean!
A really lovely, very scenic expanse of North Wales beach at Rhos-on-Sea, which is very easy to miss as you travel along the very close by / easy to access A55 North Wales Expressway. If you are passing by or heading there directly, do try and visit Rhos-on-Sea Beach etc as it is such a very relaxing, calming and peaceful place. 🙂
- The little beach here is a mix of sand and shingle that sits within an offshore breakwater which forms a small harbour.
- The water here is clean and relatively safe for bathing, although there is no lifeguard service in operation.
- The promenade is a combined walkway and cycle track, forming part of the National Cycle Route 5.
- The main beach is popular for watersports including kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and swimming and there are several separate slipways situated along the promenade.
- The Rhyl Flats wind farm can usually be seen out beyond the bay.
- Behind the beach is a promenade with the town beyond offering plenty of facilities – a pleasant spot to take an afternoon stroll, taking in the shops, cafes and kiosks.
- As well as a range of sea birds, it is not uncommon for the occasional seal or even a dolphin to be spotted in the bay.
- The beach is sheltered by a breakwater and is popular with families, who come here in summer to play in the sand and relax by the water.
- The long promenade follows the vast sweep from Old Colwyn to Penrhyn Bay and gives easy access to all of the town’s beaches, the pier and the harbour.
